Why history lessons are so threatening to those with power.

If students are taught that the racism of the past is done and dusted, then it follows that there is nothing left to do – no policies left to enact. But if the playing field today is not equal – if the past still affects the present – then ignoring these legacies allows inequities to continue unchecked, writes Chana Teeger.
