Leveson Round Up: ‘Twas Ever Thus’ – And ever thus shall be?
[Online resource]
‘Twas ever thus’ was the response of Michael Gove to Leveson’s suggestion back in May that the reputations of politicians and the media had been sullied by the phone hacking scandal. And the phrase has been on or close to the lips of many of the leading politicians giving evidence this month. As the Inquiry begins to contemplate potential recommendations for policy change, a gap is opening up: between those who like Ed Miliband say ‘this is awful, and something must be done’ and those, like Gove[i] that say ‘this is somewhat awful, but twas ever thus’.
