Co-authorship in economic history and economics: are we any different?

Over the last six decades articles published in leading economic history journals have been less likely to be coauthored than articles published in leading general economics journals. However, in both economic history and general economics journals there have been strong, monotonic increases in the number of authors per article and the fraction of co-authored papers.
