Third Max Planck Institute in Halle opens new institute building. The Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology will celebrate on 11 June 2002 the official inauguration of its institution building in Advokatenweg 36 in Halle an der Saale. The President of the Max Planck Society, Prof. Dr. Hubert Markl, as well as the Executive Director of the Institute, Prof. Günther Schlee can welcome many guests from home and abroad. These include Dr. Wolf-Dieter Dudenhausen, in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Jan-Hendrik Olbertz, Minister of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt, Dr. Hans-Jochen Marquardt, Assistant Secretary for Education, Culture and Sports of the City Hall / Saale, and Prof. Dr. Wilfried Grecksch, rector of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. The keynote address, entitled "The return of the native" designed by anthropologist Professor Adam Kuper, well-known for his teaching at Brunel University, UK, and for his research in Botswana and his contributions to theory development. After the ceremony a Cocktail reception will take place, there will also be the opportunity to visit the Institute.
