The potential of statistics to emerge as the leading discipline in business and industry has been examined by researchers. This scientific method refers to a body of techniques for investigating natural and social phenomena. Statistics is emerging as the leading discipline, as statisticians have made significant advancements in data-mining-oriented methods, such as regression trees and the ubiquitous PCA and PLS. The separation of the wide field of statistics into sub-areas has the usual limitations of a taxonomy. It is essential to look for themes that can serve as a second axis of classification and help to determine the future. A very important theme within the role of statistics in product life-cycle is the distinction between online and off-line activities.
