Urbanisation, transport and the environment: some considerations for a more productive Kampala.
International Growth Centre.
Cities are Uganda’s best at achieving the dual objectives of increasing living standards and cushioning against climate shocks. ‘Going greener’ requires a more targeted approach towards environmental sustainability objectives. Addressing congestion and other traffic-related issues can significantly improve air quality and reduce citizens’ exposure to air pollution. Investments in mass public transit are critical for enhancing urban mobility and environmental sustainability in Kampala. Engaging the informal transport sector is a key step in ensuring the success of transport reforms.
