Occupational training, competencies, and stress
In this book, we are interested in managing stress to reduce it. Why should we be concerned about how stress can be simulated? The answer is simple and almost trivial: because many professionals regularly tackle crisis situations such as accidents and it is necessary to train them for stress management. One of the possibilities is to engage them in a process of habituation to the stress factors so that these individuals learn how to manage the consequences of these factors. This chapter suggests tools for this aim. It presents a method to identify stressors and a method to assess how certain actions can increase their effects. Examples of application are given in medicine, in the nuclear industry, in military aviation, and in robotics intervention. Recommendations are proposed in order to preserve the physical and mental health of the professionals concerned.
