Las normas del deseo: imaginario sexual y comunicacion
What new sexual hierarchies are produced in the contemporary media scenario? How far do the media encourage the democratization of gender norms and sexuality, and how far do sexism and heterocentrism rearticulate? A strong controversy in the Argentine press about sex work and the rights of "trans" communities is the trigger for this inquiry into the mechanisms through which an imaginary is produced that organizes the representable in sexual terms. From a perspective in which feminist cultural criticism and queer, discourse theories, social theory and philosophy converge, Leticia Sabsay offers an original reflection on citizenship, identity configuration and the contradictions of contemporary democracies, providing interpretive clues for the study of global cultural and political representation.
