The abstract outlines my Masters dissertation project, where I used a critical discourse analysis based on cognitive dissonance theory to evaluate how and why failures in power-sharing-based peacebuilding are celebrated and excused, using the contexts of Burundi and South Sudan to interpret the longevity of this deficient peacebuilding tool.
